IT Market in Poland in 2024

Summarizing the situation in the IT market in Poland in 2024, it can be assumed that after the crisis year of 2023, the IT market has finally begun to stabilize. As reported by the leading Polish job portal No Fluff Jobs: “… the number of job offers in the IT sector in 2024 was only 2.6% less than the previous year, and salaries no longer show rapid increases, although competition for vacancies has slightly increased.”

According to media reports, there is an economic revival, which may lead to an increase in employment levels. This became evident in the fourth quarter of 2024 when the number of IT job offers increased by 22% compared to the same period in 2023.

Decrease in job offers for programmers. Other IT areas on the rise

As before, most job offers in Poland are in Backend. Every fifth job offer on the No Fluff Jobs platform in 2024 was related to this specialization. However, if you add Fullstack and Frontend to this, the total percentage of job offers related to pure programming was only 36.6%. This only confirms the trend that programming no longer accounts for more than half of new positions, as it did two years ago.

The growing demand for other specializations reflects how broad and diverse the IT sector is. Job offers related to data analytics, system maintenance, and security architecture are constantly gaining popularity. For example, the number of advertisements in the security category increased by 39%, and in Data & BI by 34%. Double-digit growth was also noted in the fields of product management and AI.

IT job market: Salaries are no longer growing as fast as before

The past year was the first in a long time when noticeable changes in salary offers were observed. Salaries are slowly continuing to rise or at least remain stable, but in some cases, minimal decreases have been noted (mostly on B2B contracts for middle and senior specialists). A market review shows that salary decreases in 2024 occurred in such categories as: Project Management, DevOps, Mobile, and Frontend.

At the same time, even where growth is observed, it is only a few percent. Double-digit increases are becoming rare, whereas in previous years, 15-20% increases were the norm. This increasingly indicates that compensation policies are aiming for stability. This is confirmed by a quick review of the categories that have seen the most significant changes: these are either those that are in high demand, such as AI or Security, or historically less paid areas, such as Game Dev, Support, and Design.

The number of available candidates in the market is gradually increasing

According to No Fluff Jobs, more resumes were submitted in 2024 than in 2023. If we draw conclusions based on the number of applications for vacancies, the number of candidates has indeed slightly increased. On average, 44 people applied for one IT job offer in 2024 (compared to 40 in 2023). This was most evident among more experienced candidates: 37% more candidates applied for a mid-level position in 2024, and among seniors, this figure increased by 23%.

The key specialization that remains popular among candidates and continues to attract a large number of applicants is Frontend. This is partly due to the decrease in the number of job offers in this category (-20% compared to 2023), as well as the development of low-code, no-code, and AI tools. As a result, there is a large number of specialists in this field on the market, and the average number of candidates for one position has reached 149.
